A short bus ride from Cambridge, this leisurely circular walk provides open views from the Gog Magog Hills - which although named after an Ancient British giant, reach a height of only 75 metres.

The route passes through the pretty village of Stapleford and the shallow Granta Valley, taking in farmland and woodland where we have a packed lunch/snack stop in a shaded spot by the river. We then take a track rising gently uphill to meet a pleasant, tree-lined stretch of Roman road. After entering an impressive avenue of beech trees, the walk finishes at the Wandlebury Ring – where the remains of an Iron Age hillfort and the 18th century stables are well worth exploring.

Public Transport: Take Stagecoach Bus 13 from opposite Botanic Gardens on Hills Road, towards Haverhill, and get off at Wandlebury, nr Fort (on Babraham Road). Tickets can be bought on the bus. Return on 13A.
