TRAVEL

By Train 

There is a fast and frequent rail service from London King’s Cross & London Liverpool Street through to Cambridge. There are excellent connections from Scotland & the North via Peterborough, and regional services from Birmingham & the Midlands, East Anglia & the Northwest. For bus services from Cambridge railway station into the city centre look for the Citi 1, Citi 3 or Citi 7 services.

The train station is south of the city centre and is the start point for most of the weekend’s walks. Central Cambridge city is approx. 1 mile walk from the train station.

The Travelodge (central), YHA, Ibis are all nearby and walkable. The Travelodge and Premier Inn (Newmarket road) are 1.3 miles north east of the station, about 20-25 mins walk, Holiday Inn Express 1.5 miles north east.

Please note that there is no left luggage facility at the train station.

By Road

From the South & from London, Cambridge is a short trip up the M11 motorway. From the north, the A1 and M1 link to the A14 dual carriageway straight to the city, and from the east and west, the A14 again takes you to Cambridge.

Parking

Parking in Cambridge can be tricky so please plan ahead. If you are staying at the Travelodge (south) you can park in the Cambridge Leisure Park multistorey car park for £7 per 24hrs but you must validate your ticket at the Travelodge to get this price. https://cambridgeleisure.co.uk/your-visit/getting-here

There are parking restrictions on most residential roads so please check local signage if you find a space on the road. Parking wardens do patrol – you have been warned!

If you are driving in for shorter periods (evenings or just the day) there are several city-centre car parks. The Cambridge city website has a list: https://www.cambridge.gov.uk/parking

Cambridge has five Park & Ride sites where you can stay for more than 24 hours (chargeable). Please note that the buses to the park and ride sites DO NOT run late into the evening. Find out more about Cambridge Park & Ride.

By Coach

National Express operates coach services to Cambridge from major towns & cities throughout the U.K. There are frequent coach services from both Central London, and London Stansted Airport through to the city. The X5 cross county Stagecoach service links Oxford to Cambridge, via Bicester, Buckingham, Milton Keynes & Bedford.

By Bus

Stagecoach operates a comprehensive service to the city from around Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.

By Air

London Stansted is located just 30 miles to the South of the city, with easy access by train, coach, or car (M11).  Cambridge is also within easy reach of London Heathrow, London Gatwick & Birmingham International Airport.
